Maryland Legislative Day

PURPOSE: Frederick County GS Legislation/Proclamation Day – Our Scouts will be presented on the Senate and House Floors, learn about the legislative process, view Legislative Sessions from both Senate and House galleries, State House Tour, learn and meet our Legislators with our GS cookies during lunch.


WHO: Second year Juniors (5th Grade) and Up/FROG’s are invited. 53 seats available; first come basis with payment.


WHEN: Friday, March 2, 2018 – Public school 2-hour early dismissal. Present this flyer to your teacher for the day’s credit! 


WHERE: Meeting/parking at Frederick Costco (northwest corner – Costco gas station).  The bus will leave Costco promptly at 8 AM.  Arrive by 7:45 AM.  Leave Annapolis 3 PM, arrive back to Costco ~4:30 PM.  Scouts are more than welcome to meet us at the State House by 9 AM (via personal transportation – deduct $18.00)


LUNCH: Box lunches will be ordered from Jimmy John’s and eaten in the Miller West 1 room in the Senate Office building.  Lunch has been calculated in the overall price. 


WHAT TO BRING:  Wear nice clothing, comfortable walking shoes and Girl Scout vest. Please ensure your scout has eaten a healthy breakfast. We request that each girl bring at least ONE BOX OF GIRL SCOUT COOKIES for her legislator.

Cadette Outdoor Journey & Archery Badge Camping Weekend - 3.11-9.2018

Camp Potomac Woods, Leesburg, VA

Date:  March 9-11, 2018

Time:  6:30 PM Friday to 12:00 PM Sunday

Location:  Camp Potomac Woods, Leesburg, VA


Cadette Girl Scouts who would like to earn the new Cadette Outdoor Journey can  attend a weekend Camp at Potomac Woods and complete all the requirements.  There is also an option to earn the Cadette Archery Badge at this event also.  Already have the Archery Badge, we’ll work on the Cadette Outdoor Apprentice  badge instead.


To attend an adult leader, first aider or chaperon must attend and host a  badge session.  Adults plan their session or I can provide all planning materials and/or supplies.   For questions email


Girls will be lodge camping or can sleep in tents if weather permits.  Journey badge activities will take place Friday night and  Saturday.  Sunday morning we will be completing a Take Action Project at Camp Potomac Woods.  Girls must complete required activities to earn badges and take action project to complete the Journey  Badges include  Primitive Camper, Trailblazer and Night Owl Badges along with a Take Action Project to complete the Journey.  They will also complete the Cadette Archery Badge session as well.  We’ll offer activities for the Cadette Outdoor Art Apprentice Badge as well. 

Camp price will include all earned  badges and food for the weekend - Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner & Sunday breakfast.  Snacks will be provided on Saturday.  S'mores on Friday and Saturday Night.  Price  for adults is $10.00 and for girls will be $47.00 per girl and will include badge session and take action materials, badges earned and meals.


Girls are responsible for providing basic camp equipment including a weather appropriate sleeping bag,  weather appropriate clothing, personal hygiene items, two pairs of camp shoes, rain gear, refillable water bottle, mess kit, and flashlight.    A full list of items will be provided 2 weeks before camp.

Teen Voice for Animals Badge Workshop

As consumers of beauty products, clothing, and chicken nuggets, and as pet owners, horseback riders, or circus spectators, our relationships with animals play a big role in our lives.  What are the specifics of the complex relationship between animals and humans?  If you want to know more so you can make informed choices – and help others make them, too – this badge is for you.

  3. Explore animals in husbandry
  4. Take a look at animals used for sports and entertainment
  5. Look into an animal issue??

Cadette Quest LIA Workshop

Registration Due 4/20/2018

Date:  May 4, 11 & 12 (2 meetings and Event)

Time:  7:00-9:00 PM (Mtgs) 10:00 - 3:30 PM (Event)

Location:  Trinity UMC, Frederick, MD

Cost:  $21.00


Cadette Girl Scouts can earn their LIA Award through planning session activities  and  then presenting them to Brownies at Journey Event.  Girls will complete all requirements for the LIA Award by attending both planning meetings on May 4th and 11th as well as running sessions at the Brownie Quest Journey event on May 12, 2018.


Only Cadette Girls Scouts in 6th - 8th grade who are mature enough to work with other Cadettes and younger girls with limited adult supervision should register for this Workshop and Event.  Registration is by troop or individual.  Troops need to supply 1 adult  leader or first aider, individual 6th grade girls must have a n adult chaperon.  All adults are expected to help with event and will have the opportunity to sign-up for jobs at the event.

Teen Game Visionary Badge Workshop

This badge is your chance to build friendships and community networks by leading a series of fun, inventive, and challenging games.  Use your vision – of what’s surprising, fantastic, team-building, and, most of all, fun! – to invent some unforgettable activities.  Making games is about pushing boundaries of creativity and possibility: It’s not just about thinking outside the box, but getting rid of the box all together.  Enjoy exploring your imagination!

When I’ve earned this badge, I’ll be able to design and organize games that will bring people together for creative and thoughtful fun.
