Maryland Legislative Day


PURPOSE: Frederick County GS Legislation/Proclamation Day – Our Scouts will be presented on the Senate and House Floors, learn about the legislative process, view Legislative Sessions from both Senate and House galleries, State House Tour, learn and meet our Legislators with our GS cookies during lunch.


WHO: Second year Juniors (5th Grade) and Up/FROG’s are invited. 53 seats available; first come basis with payment.


WHEN: Friday, March 2, 2018 – Public school 2-hour early dismissal. Present this flyer to your teacher for the day’s credit! 


WHERE: Meeting/parking at Frederick Costco (northwest corner – Costco gas station).  The bus will leave Costco promptly at 8 AM.  Arrive by 7:45 AM.  Leave Annapolis 3 PM, arrive back to Costco ~4:30 PM.  Scouts are more than welcome to meet us at the State House by 9 AM (via personal transportation – deduct $18.00)


LUNCH: Box lunches will be ordered from Jimmy John’s and eaten in the Miller West 1 room in the Senate Office building.  Lunch has been calculated in the overall price. 


WHAT TO BRING:  Wear nice clothing, comfortable walking shoes and Girl Scout vest. Please ensure your scout has eaten a healthy breakfast. We request that each girl bring at least ONE BOX OF GIRL SCOUT COOKIES for her legislator.

Junior Journey Workshop


closes on 4/7/2018 or when full

Date:  April 21, 2018

Location:  Camp Brighton Woods - Brookeville, MD Time:  10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Cost:  $35.00 per girl


In this journey, fourth and fifth graders become leaders who energize, investigate, and innovate as they explore their own energy, the energy of their places and spaces, and the energy of getting from here to there. Along the way, Dez, the fashionista spider, learns right along with the Juniors. The girls will also meet energizing artists, cooks, engineers, and architects as they "Get Moving" to get others moving, too.


Junior Girl Scouts can register with their troop (troops should follow Volunteer Essentials adult/girl ratio and provide their own first aider) or they can come with an adult chaperon. Cost for the workshop is $35.00 per girl and includes Journey Award all materials for journey, planning Take Action Project and Pizza lunch.  Minimum to hold event is 40 maximum is 75 girls.  Adults attending pay $8.00 per person for lunch.  Sessions will be hosted by Senior and Ambassador girls attending a Gold Award Boot Camp and adults.  Please no extra adults or siblings.  For more information email
